Sprint into the Night Raises Funds with Festive Atmosphere

Close to 200 individuals gathered Saturday, May 21st at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights to celebrate Sprint into the Night, a fundraising event honoring Team UCP triathletes. Presented by Platinum Sponsor KeyBanc Capital Markets and Gold Sponsor Audi of Bedford, the summer cocktail party raised over $30,000 to benefit the programming of UCP of Greater Cleveland. The evening featured an array of great silent and live auction items, as well as a Grand Prize Raffle for a weekend rental of a Porsche or Mercedes!

For the fourth year in a row, a group of women from Cleveland Heights, University Heights and Shaker Heights joined together to make this event a reality. Formed by Megan McMahon in honor of her children Kevin and Anna Mary, who have cerebral palsy, the Sprint into the Night committee set out to create a fun event that would have meaningful impact in the community where they live. Many of the committee members also participate in the triathlon, and this event is a way to increase awareness of their efforts and raise additional funds. Sprint into the Night has grown each year in dollars raised, attendance and even in the novelty of the auction items for bidding!

This year’s event included great food from Nighttown, as well as a signature rum punch and glazed donuts for dessert, courtesy of Amy Joy. A jazz quartet from the Cleveland School of the Arts provided entertainment – and received rave reviews! With near perfect weather and record attendance, Sprint into the Night was a huge success and people are already talking about 2012! UCP of Greater Cleveland expresses our gratitude to the sponsors, donors, attendees and committee members who made Sprint into the Night possible.

You can see the fun yourself by checking out the photo gallery here. To be included on the list for next year’s event, contact Beth Lucas at (216) 791-8363, ext. 227 or blucas@ucpcleveland.org.
