Christian

Borrero

In 2006, Christian began working with UCP and was placed at what was then National City Bank’s Operations Center Support Employment site (it has since become PNC). Looking to become more independent in all facets of his life, Christian challenged himself to improve his work skills and requested more demanding work assignments. When given the chance to transfer to another UCP Supported Employment site at Fifth Third Bank’s Corporate Headquarters for more advanced work, Christian accepted the opportunity.  He started in their Mortgage Department as an assistant file clerk where he organized all the files for five mortgage clerks.  Christian later moved on to become an Administrative Assistant in their Private Banking Department, splitting his time at the Front Reception Desk each day.  Employees at Fifth Third Bank’s Corporate Headquarters were greatly complimentary of Christian’s work and exemplary performance. After a few years, Christian expressed interest in becoming even more independent, so he began working with UCP’s Job Placement Specialists to find competitive employment out in the community. When a full-time receptionist position became available at Kurtz Bros., Christian was recommended for the position and got the job! Kurtz Bros. has repeatedly mentioned that Christian continues to excel and go above and beyond all of the expectations that were presented to him. Christian is extremely excited about the opportunity because he feels like he doesn’t have to lean on anyone anymore and has finally reached the level of independence that he so desired.
