Serial Casting for the Upper & Lower Extremities: A Transdisciplinary Approach to Mobility

Where: UCP of Greater Cleveland (10011 Euclid Avenue)

Cost: $275 for Early Registration (Received/Paid by December 1st)
$300 for Final Registration (Received/Paid by December 9th)

Course Description: This course provides an overview of the process for the assessment of children with range of motion restrictions that impede gait with an assistive device. The focus is a transdisciplinary approach from the perspectives of occupational and physical therapies. Participants will participate in multiple lab sessions to gain an improved understanding of the need for a holistic approach for gaining range of motion through serial casting to improve mobility. Upon completion of this course, participants will have hands on experience with serial casting for single plane foot, ankle, and wrist deformities. The target audience includes PTs, PTAs, OTs, and COTAs. The facilitators will discuss the different roles of evaluating occupational and physical therapists in comparison to Physical Therapist Assistants and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. This is an introductory course.
