UCP Celebrates National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Angel (pictured left) and Teresa (pictured right) collaborated to create a piece of artwork for National Developmental Disability Awareness Month. They included a yellow and blue star because those are the colors for NDDAM. Around the star they wrote words to describe what inclusion means to them. On the bottom is an angel and to the right of it Angel wrote, “It takes special angels to take care of us.”

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NDDAM), which highlights the many ways people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities. This campaign seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities as well as the barriers that people with disabilities still face in connecting to the communities in which they live.

One of the cornerstones of UCP’s mission is the importance of inclusion, and we aim to highlight that on a daily basis.
