Thankful Thursday – Good Shepherd Foundation of Ohio

UCP is thankful for the Good Shepherd Foundation of Ohio for their generous 2021 grant that supported the purchase of furniture and televisions for our OakLeaf Homes Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs), which provide 24/7 living assistance to our more significantly disabled and medically fragile clients. Our ability to perform essential work in the midst of a pandemic is enhanced greatly by having a comfortable living area for our ICF residents, who had to spend their time, almost exclusively, at home over the past two years.

The Good Shepherd Foundation’s mission is to assist organizations in providing for the “extras” that can make the lives of individuals with disabilities more enjoyable and fulfilling. With their support, UCP purchased four (4) 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs, including wall mounts for both ICFs. We also purchased a sofa, love seat and reclining chairs, a dresser, as well as dining tables and chairs for our Edendale location.

The new furniture has been especially appreciated at Edendale (click here to see before and after pictures). There is now enough seating for residents to practice social distancing. The dining furniture has allowed for comfortable family-style dining and has contributed to the overall happiness of the residents. The TVs have been a tremendous hit with the gentlemen at Edendale; one resident commented that he likes watching Home Alone on the new, big TV!

Thank you, Good Shepherd Foundation of Ohio!
